How to Set Up Google Ad Campaigns Integration Between Advertisers and Agencies in Apptrove
Collaborating as two parties will create success when running a Google Ad campaign. Apptrove will enable this collaboration by integrating the Google Ads accounts of both the agency and the advertiser.
The advertiser will provide access to their Google Ads account, creating a way for the agency to manage, track and attribute conversions for Google Ad campaigns that are run with that access through the Google Ads account, as well as enable Apptrove to capture any campaign information (app installs/in-app events) directly in Apptrove.
This document will provide all of the steps for setting integrating the Google Ads accounts for Google Ad campaign management through Apptrove.
Understanding Roles and Responsibilities in Google Ad Campaigns Integration
Understanding the roles and responsibilities for integrating Google Ads campaigns is crucial in order for both the advertiser and agency to achieve a successful Google Ad campaign.
Advertiser Responsibilities
The advertiser must:
1. Provide access to their Google Ads account.
2. Provide Link ID.
3. Provide agency Customer ID for access.
Agency Responsibilities
The agency must:
1. Provide their Customer ID to the advertiser.
2. Accept the invite.
3. Receive the Link ID from the advertiser.
4. Set up integration in Apptrove.
Both roles are essential to ensure Google Ad campaigns run smoothly and all campaign data is captured correctly.
Step 1: How to Get Your Google Ads Customer ID for Google Ad Campaigns
The Customer ID is a unique 10-digit number assigned to every Google Ads account. This ID is Every Google Ads account gets a unique 10-digit Customer ID, which is needed when creating the campaign integration for your Google Ad campaign.
To find your Customer ID follow these steps:
1. Sign into your Google Ads account
Your 10-digit Customer ID will display in the top right corner of your screen in this format: 123-456-7890. Once you have your customer ID, the agency can give it to the advertiser to receive the invite to set up their Google Ad campaigns.
Important note: The agency will need to provide the Customer ID to the advertiser to receive the invitation to set up their Google Ad campaigns.
What is a Link ID?
The Link ID allows you to connect the Agency account with the advertisers’ external accounts. This is also the ID that is used to link Google Ad campaigns to Apptrove.
Important Note: If you do not have a Link ID yet:
– Click Create Link ID
– Follow the instructions to create one.
This Link ID will be needed for integration later.
Step 2: How do advertisers share Link ID and Access?
Advertisers must provide a Link ID and account access so agencies can manage Google Ads campaigns.
Advertisers Process
- Go to the Google Ads dashboard.
- From the sidebar, click on the Tools icon (wrench).
- Under Data Manager, select Connected Products.
- Select Third Party App Analytics.
- Click Manage & Link.
Once the Link ID appears:
- Click Options
- Select Share with Other Accounts
- Enter the Customer ID obtained from the agency
- Send the invitation
This step will allow the agencies access to Google Ad campaign information.
Important
You must have the Link ID before connecting your account to the agency.
After the agency has accepted the request, the status will change to Shared under Linked Accounts.
Step 3 – The agency accepts access for Google Ad campaigns
Before proceeding with connecting their Google Ad campaign, the agency must have an account in the Google Ads Manager. This will allow them to continue with Google Ad campaign integration.
Step 4 – Accept Invite Agencies
The agency has to accept the invite after receiving it.
The steps to accept the invitation are:
- Log in to your Google Ads Manager Account
- Click on the Tools icon on the sidebar.
- Under Data Management, select Third Party App Analytics
- Go to Linked Accounts and look for the invite request from the advertiser.
- Click Accept
Once approved, the advertiser’s status will read as Shared, for Linked Accounts, indicating that they have been granted access to manage goggle ally ad campaigns.
Step 5: Create Integration Between Apptrove and Google Ad Campaigns
After both parties share and approve access, the agency must also set up the integration within Apptrove in order to track Google Ad campaigns.
Step 6: Complete Setup Within Apptrove
Venture into Apptrove to complete the following:
- Log in to your Agency Dashboard
- Select Integrations from the menu bar on the left
- Choose Partner Directory from the drop-down
- Enter Google Ads into the search field
- Click on Google Ads
- Login to your Google account to connect Apptrove to your current Google Ad campaigns.
Step 7: Enter Link ID
The last step to completing the setup of Google Ad campaigns will be to input the Link ID obtained from the advertiser.
How to Complete This Step
- Paste the Link ID obtained from the advertiser
- Log In to your Google Account
- The Google ad campaign integration is complete upon completion of this step.

Verify that you’re ready for business by using this checklist. Check off the following items that are complete for both agencies and advertisers:

• The agency shares with the advertiser its Customer ID.
• The advertiser accepts the agency’s invitation to connect.
• The integration was completed in Apptrove, and the advertiser’s ads are now being delivered to Google.
